“The Culture of Siri' Na Pacce Bugis Makassar In South Sulawesi”
South Sulawesi,
the province is bordered by Central Sulawesi and West Sulawesi to the north,
which is divided into 21 regencies and three independent cities, also has a
diverse range of ethnic groups between the Buginese, Makassar, and Toraja.
Likewise, there is a culture that has been famous even around the world knowing
about it, which namely Siri Na Pacce.
Social and
culture in south-sulawesi for making an interactions or relations each other
has a term Siri and Pacce (Siri na Pacce), Which is inheritance in the
community in south-sulawesi. It will show character or personality of people in
south-sulawesi. Although in their development, this cultural of Siri Na Pacce
identified as a Bugis Makassar Culture, but in fact this culture has become a
culture for all tribes in South-Sulawesi, Such as Toraja and Mandar tribe and
the other tribes, Where they have the ideological and philosophical for
interacting to another community, wherever and whenever they are.
Furthermore,
This culture is one of important things, that people in south-sulawesi must
have in their live and the other activities, because it has become the core of
culture also has already ingrained within soul of human in south-sulawesi.
However, citizen can be inspired by Siri Na Pacce for guiding their live will
be better and full of responsibility to do something, what they are believed. The
concept of culture is a concept cultural with high noble values, which include
honesty, commitment, intelligent, policy, and the human dignity, the
achievement, putting obligations first the rights, shame, and has high solidarity are a part of the
culture concept of Siri Na Pacce.
The
other hand, Siri Na Pacce has correlated between values of human being as well
as dignity between the families. It means that something avoidance for us to
disobey, because wagering is a soul. As a instance, the case of hardness like
treatment or homicide, where the families of victim felt that their dignity
(Siri’na) should be required to erect them again. Although, the subject had to
kill or be killed with blood, which lives debt must be paid with their lives. However,
people of south-sulawesi believed that people who have been killed because
enforcing Siri’ the death is martyrdom, or what they refer to as Risantangi or
Mate Mate Rigollai, which means his death is like death wrapped coconut milk or
sugar, and that is true warrior.
Eventually,
Siri na Pacce is a concept though of law and philosophical system of people in
south-sulawesi, that is believed as the sacred. Siri Na Pacce are two words
that cannot be separated from the south-sulawesi character in real life in this
world. What a sacred word, that if someone lose their Siri’ or De’ni Gaga
Siri’na (Language Makassar), it means he’s no longer taking human life. Even
the Bugis Makassar argued that they were “Sirupai Olo’ Kolo’e (Like Animals).
Bugis adage says : Siri’mi narituo (Because shame we can live).
